Welcome to the website of musician/singer/songwriter Randy Barr July 28, 2010 Awesome bunch of shows these past couple of weeks! So many thanks to everyone who came out to the opening night of Rockstar U @ Mulligans in Manchvegas :) Great to hang with great peeps and so much talent too! Many more shows to come in the last half of the summer as well, so stay tuned and come out and play with us! On the songwriting front, I'm stoked to say I will be having some songwriting sessions with my good friend Bob Knowles in the next few weeks :) He has a great voice and I'm excited to hear what we come up with! Lots of good things coming along, and I'm feeling more blessed than ever....
PS: Rush was Awesometastabulous by the way :)
July 18, 2010 Well a bunch of days in Maine were just awesome!! Ernie was a swimming fool all day long and crashed out by the fire each night, what a life :) I also just got busier by adding a 6th night of the week!! Every Monday night starting July 26th will be Rockstar U @ Mulligans in Manchester, NH. Live band karaoke/jam, only the way we can do it. It will be a good time for sure :) Tomorrow night is Rush, and I'm sooo stoked!! Sometime along the way, I'll get my songs up here for you guys to hear :) I have plenty to finish for sure, and I hope you like 'em :)
July 5, 2010 It's been a few weeks since I've updated things on here :( Busy with many summer shows and a couple of trips to my island paradise too ;) The shows are piling up this summer, so thankfully it will continue to be a busy one!! I have many new songs almost ready to post on the site as well so stay tuned and until next time...Play Loud!!!
June 14, 2010 Looong week of shows is over, but a great time was had for sure! Started out with a rainy gig @ the Scooperbowl, but the crowd still had a good time, and who wouldn't with free ice cream ;) NYC was a total blast and Fast Times destroyed the crowd!! The band put out great energy and the crowd was so into the show, was a great feeling for all of us for sure. But note to self...wearing a leather jacket, boots and jeans may look cool, but running around onstage for 90 plus minutes and screaming all the songs out over the volume puts out a lot of sweat ;) Sunday night was the first False Alarm gig with Mikey and Tony. Not much of a crowd until the NBA game was over, then they all came in and wouldn't let us leave the stage haha. Great opening night for sure, even though trying to sing "Limelight" and "I Remember You" on show number 6 in a row of the week was a little tough, I got through it ;) So thanks to everyone who came out to any of the shows this week, the shows don't mean nothing if no one's there so thanks ;)
June 8, 2010 **New gig announcement** Starting this Sunday "False Alarm" will be playing @ The Green Dragon in Faneuil Hall. Come join us for our first show on June 13th. All the rock/dance/pop tunes you love played by a rippin' band and plenty of great drinks ;) The weather is awesome and it will be a good time! Hope to see you out there...
May 26, 2010 Respect is a funny word. I'm not sure how many people really understand what it means? It takes years to earn, and seconds to throw away. Everyone wants it, but they don't want to give it back. It's really not a hard thing to understand, and I think most people do understand it, but for some reason they squash it down, like the voice inside that says "this isn't right". In that moment you have a choice. If you do the right thing, the thing you would want someone to do for you, you give AND earn respect....
May 25, 2010 My biggest hope for you in your life is that you someday realize you don't need someone else to love you, to love yourself. You are such a better person than you ever give yourself credit for and that is just a shame. It's important to be loved, but underneath it all you need faith and love for yourself, and most times... you don't have that. I would honestly give anything for you to have that....
May 20, 2010 Listening to Dio/Sabbath/Rainbow all week, still can't believe he's gone. He was such a big part of my Metal upbringing. I never met him, but a great story happened on the Strange Highways tour. It was a free show in Austin, TX w/ Galactic Cowboys opening up!! What a show!! The Cowboys were great as usual, then Dio was ready. He walked right by me to the stage entrance, and I was amazed how a voice with such power came out of him. He's probably 5'2 at the tallest, but his voice and power were 10 feet tall!!! The volume of Dio's band especially Tracy G's guitar rig was just crazy!! The intro deafened everybody as it was, but then they ripped into "Jesus, Mary & The Holy Ghost" and it was mayhem!! I literally saw the monitors bouncing on the stage!!??!! I thought how does he sing with that volume all around him?? They made it into the second song "Stand Up & Shout" and the cops hit the stage during the guitar solo. To see Ronnie and the Sheriff arguing as full blown Metal volume was all around them was priceless!! The band didn't miss a beat haha. They had a short discussion after the tune on the side of the stage but the crowd was getting restless, and after the showdown, metal won the battle and the band could go on \^^/ I later met Jeff Pilson (who played bass on that tour) in LA and we talked about that show, and he laughed out loud remembering the events :) I saw them on that tour later that year w/ Atomic Opera opening up, but no cops ;) Remembering that story makes me smile, and I'm thankful I have a great memory and so much great music from him to listen to...God Bless you Ronnie James Dio.....
May 16, 2010 Rest In Peace Ronnie James Dio...Such a great singer/songwriter. His voice and soul will be missed from this world. For all the nay sayers of Heavy Metal, if you will just listen to the words he wrote and sang, you will hear such hope and passion that he sang with. He will be missed, but I will always have his music to inspire me, and lead me to keep the flame of hope alive ...always.
May 14, 2010 So proud of my Flyers!! Fought back to take the series. Never give up hope, while there's breath, there's life!! GO FLYERS!!!
May 14, 2010 So people who know me know that I do not like people haha. But that statement is often misleading. I am by nature a loner, but have so many great memories with my friends, who are people?? I think it comes down to one simple thing about people in my opinion...selfishness! Think about one personality weakness that if taken away, could really change this world. You could say it's jealousy or maybe greed? To me those things fit in the selfishness category. You're jealous of someone because YOU want what they have! On any level, selfishness makes us bad humans. From cheating on your girlfriend/boyfriend to cutting people off in traffic, they are done by thinking only of yourself and what you want. Now I don't live in a glass house, and I'll throw the first stone at myself haha. I've done selfish things for sure, but I do try and think about how I felt when those things were done to me, it didn't feel good. So I try and take the time to just let things be, and live the golden rule....
May 13, 2010 So this past week I've been recording my tunes, but since I have so many songs, I've decided to just record them all myself on my four track and kinda master 'em myself. I've got 8-10 done in the last week and they will be coming fast and furious as I get them all down. I hope you like 'em, and maybe even buy some ;) I've tried to round them up under moods, or album titles, even though sadly, albums are long but dead :( They will all be under the 101 tag, since they are all being done in my room haha. Give 'em a listen sometime....
May 9, 2010 Music, music, I hear music...and thank God that I can! Music is there for me everyday, happy or sad, up or down. When people let me down, I know it's okay to feel devastated. It inspires me just as much as the good times do. I believe you need to count your blessings, as small as they may seem, everyday. I can hear music, play music, sing music and write music. Next to God and the animals, it is the only thing that will always be there for me, when I'm up, and when I'm down...
